This year's event will feature a new twist which will allow small water line boats to finish at the Offshore Buoy in the middle of the course if they choose. This will also serve as an automatic course shortening device if the wind does not cooperate. The protocol for finishing short will be in the Sailing Instructions.
The Chicago Yacht Club 2018 Verve Cup will feature distance racing and buoy racing. For 125 years, this race has been a mainstay of Chicago racing.
COLORS, Columbia One-Level Offshore Racing Series, has been Chicago’s shake-the-sheets event since 1995. More than 100 boats race annually during the first weekend of June and the strong one-design presence of the Beneteau, J/Boat, Tartan-10 and other large fleets designates the event as a tune-up for the season.
The 5th Annual Skyway Yacht Works Dash to the Dock Regatta is on for Saturday May 12. It is the annual start of the season and an event aimed at getting people out of the yard and into the harbor. This year’s event features a breakfast and harbor start from the yard. Last year we started later and ended the race with a lunch consisting of encased meats, grilled vegetables, and a keg of Laguintas beer.
